Following its big debut in Tokyo, Mazda announced that MX-30 pre-orders are open in Europe and delivery will start next year (no word yet on availability in Japan, the rest of Asia, or North America).
They haven’t officially revealed the exact pricing yet, but the car is expected to be available for under £30,000 ($38,661) in the United Kingdom.
To put that into perspective, the Hyundai Kona electric has a starting price of £35,100 ($45,246) in the UK and the Nissan Leaf starts at £27,995 ($36,077).
The MX-30 will also be competitively priced with the upcoming Volkswagen ID.3 which is expected to have a starting price of around £30,000.
We’ll have to wait for the official numbers from Mazda, but it looks like the MX-30 will be nicely positioned price-wise in the EV market.
