Hi all,
Thanks for allowing me to be a member of your online forum.

I'm a Mazda fan, this is my 3rd in recent years.
Owned a MX5 Mk1 upto last year, sold it on as found i wasn't getting the use out of it. (second car for sunshine days) now someone else can enjoy it. Just exchanging my 2018 Mazda 3 for a 6 month old ex demo MX-30.
It's a bit of a leap into the unknown. I guess I have the normal worries, although range isn't one of them.
I guess I'm more worried about home charging on a 3 pin plug until I have a proper home charger installed.
Any views to put my mind at rest would be warmly welcomed.
I'm in my 50s and a more relaxed driver than back in my youth.
Anyway all be safe and drive carefully

Welcome to the forum @Frankie! What concerns do you have charging with a 3 pin outlet? How is driving the MX-30 compared to the other Mazdas you've owned?

Hi,
My worry is that I won't be able to get enough charge in to the battery overnight. I've read all the comments, and I know I shouldn't be worried but I guess until you experience it for yourself you sometimes have doubt.
This MX 30 is completely different from my old 1997 MX5 roadster. That car was just so different in its purpose. I will say, it was this car, which I brought from a friend who sadly found it difficult to get in and out of and it had no PAS. The build quality of the MX5 was spot on. It had covered 150000 miles and was tight as a drum. I owned it for around 9 years and had no issues apart from yearly maintenance needs.
The 3 that I'm just swapping for the MX30 is a beautiful car to drive. I will miss it, but the fuel supply issue brought my decision forward by a couple of years. The 3 I brought new, my first ever and likely to be last ever new purchase.
I was very impressed with the MX30 when I drove it for around 20 miles. I found it better than a colleagues BMW i3 that I recently drove, which I wasn't truly surprised about. The MX-30 is definitely the most calming and relaxed drive that I've experienced.
I'm looking forward to pick up day this Thursday, but still worry about charging.

I suppose the answer lies in what your daily use is. Also have you a smart meter which allows you a discounted rate. If your supplier offers one then you can schedule a charge during certain hours which can reduce your bills but also your charging period. I am with Octopus which offers reduced rate between 00:30 and 04:30. If you're mileage is low, and therefore battery usage is low, overnight charging on a standard 3 pin charge is nothing to worry about. Higher mileage would need longer but what do consider to be an overnight period? My experience whilst I wait for my wall charger is 1% battery increase per 10 minutes on a 3 pin plug. Hopefully others can supply a more detailed explanation than this mere mortal!
