Anyone else had this?
on about 3 occasions in the last 4 months the car is on charge at my home new motion charger and locked.
without ant cause I can determine the car alarm goes off.
I unlock and lock and all is ok with no repeat.

must be a reason…

My MX-30 is only a few weeks old, delivered at the beginning of this month and this happened to me this morning at about 6:00am:

It was plugged in on a UK 3 pin normal plug Sunday afternoon.
It had finished charging about 10:30pm Sunday night.
I looked at the app at 6:00am Monday morning and it showed 100% charged (Plugged in - Not Charging).
I refreshed the Vehicle Status screen.
When the app received and displayed the “Real Time Status” message the alarm went off.

It’s only happened once but seems to be when the car receives or sends an update to the app.

Yes I've had several incidents when the alarm as gone off for no obvious reason. I thought the issue was related to the end of charging or the use of the internal thief deterrent (third click on the key fob) but the last occurrence was weird. The app would not allow me to login without updating the app. So I went to Google Play to update the app but Google Play reported that no update was available. I tried clearing the app cache but this had no effect, so I deleted the app and reinstalled it. As soon as I reconnected to the car, the alarm went off - at 1:15am!!

The dealer says they have a tool to look at reports when the alarm goes off. But the information they had was different to my experience so I don't think their tool is very reliable - there are clearly use cases that have not been recorded by the alarm monitor. As far as I know the dealer has not taken any action to report this to Mazda. What's been the reaction with other dealers?

This is not the only fault I've found with the car and I'm not happy with the lack of real analysis on this and other faults displayed by the dealer. I still like driving the car but I am concerned that Mazda's usual attention to detail seems to have gone adrift here. I also wonder whether the dealer network is fully trained on the MX30 - first electric vehicle, odd door design.

I'm currently using a 13A plug in my garage. Charger will be installed in November.

Dealer (Edwards, Worcestershire) say they need video evidence of the alarm going off before they're prepared to take this further. They say their monitoring software says the alarm last went off 34 days ago. My written evidence says it went off at 1:15am 9 days ago. I'm now deciding how to progress this. I may go direct to Mazda.

I now have a short video of my MX30 alarm sounding at 10pm. Unusually I think the lights were not flashing at the same time as the audible alarm. I started charging at about 3:45pm and I had been monitoring the charging process from about 9pm as I wanted to stop charging when the battery reached 80% capacity. At 9:59pm the alarm sounded and I managed to record a 19 second video before the alarm stopped without me trying to unlock the car. Is this alarm signalling some other problem other than a security issue e.g. a battery alarm or a charging issue?

I had already contacted Mazda about the other issue I have with a door rattle and they've said they will get their MX30 specialist to work with the dealer to try to resolve the issues. I hope this achieves a solution to both issues. I'll report here on the progress made.

Just got my MX30 at the end of October, we have had the mysterious alarm sounding but no other indications whilst plugged in and not plugged in. I had thought it was something else or some other alarm as it is short lived and i could see no other lights etc, so i am now thinking its the aforementioned mystery alarm.

Hello all. My alarms just tripped on it’s first charge via a 3 pin plug, just as it hit 31%. I also checked the update status at the same time, as I’m sad enough to check every percent being it’s my first EV 😬. I’ve emailed the dealer but wonder if anyone else has got any further with identifying the issue? Thanks

I've seen (heard!) the alarm trigger when not charging. One of the questions Mazda asked me, via the dealer, was whether I had interacted with the app shortly before the alarm was triggered. Of course most people interact with the app when they are charging so this may have been a red herring. Let's hope Mazda come up a solution.

Observation when charging mine the other day - sometimes when requesting a status update in the app while the car is charging on 3 pin and locked something lights up on the dash briefly. Not sure what it is as I was round the front of the car when it happened but it lit up inside for about a second - requesting status again after that didn't cause the illumination. Wonder if that's triggering the intruder alarm.

Hi Fellow owners. I have not had this at all. Reading all of your info I am pretty sure it’s the app. Why you may ask, I don’t have the app. Very wary of apps & tend not to use them. Not saying anything bad but every app I ever have seems to play up. Example pod point, I plug in to start charging all info correct name of point etc. click on confirm charge & screen on app goes Green, ok great get back & charger has stopped. Tried this a couple of times & it definitely stops charging at 15 mins. Reported to pod point to no avail. Always up date the app when requested. I’m a bit old school & I really think the tech hasn’t been achieved & tested properly. In the case of alarms going off I really think this is a Mazda problem & they should get it sorted. I love the car but I really think people are being put off by the gremlins. I like to read The brig gives solutions as he seems to be very tech aware. You only have to look back a few weeks & Tesla owners were locked out of their cars. These cars are expensive & I truly believe we should be treated a lot better, wonder what others think. Well guys that’s my rant over.

Paul, your 15 minutes matches exactly the free time you get on podpoint when you're charge has not been confirmed. If you are getting charge confirmed message then it should go beyond this time. Definitely a podpoint or podpoint app error with that timing not the car. Has it happened in more than one podpoint location? Has your network signal been good? Is it tesco or some other supposedly free location?

Sorry if you know this already but basically you plug in and charging starts, The charger touches base with the central server and awaits your app to send the handshake within 15 minutes. The charger is dumb at this stage and only knows its charging "some car". This is until the match is made re charger name and plug a or b matched to your account and charge request. This then allows charging beyond 15 minutes. If either the charger or you're app has not communicated to the central server then the charge stops. Normally its the app as I believe if the charger does not communicate it carries on chargingI
.
I would try deleting the app completely if it happens at different locations and reinstalling it with your name, email and car type. Beyond that I am screwed!

Paul, just tried podpoint from the comfort of my home, and got the charging confirmed message, so that to me indicates the confirmation is from the app on your phone "sending" a message but not from the central server saying it got it and has matched it to the actual physical charger in my opinion. So that puts us back into poor mobile signal/app connection at that particular location at that time perhaps. As asked have you tried it at a different physical location?

Hi everyone , well it happened again this morning at 04:30, just as the charging stopped. No interaction with APP as we were asleep! it does seem to be related to the charging cycle, could not get video as i was not fast enough at waking up grabbing phone etc before alarm stopped. Sure enough car was in for alarm / rattle on door and software update recall on Tuesday and the dealer could not find any issues with the Alarm. Mazda need to wake up to this issue ! sorry for the pun! I think we are going to try and get this to go of again this evening, will let you know results.

Hi Shaun, did you have the app open on your phone as I think it does receive a notification once the charge has completed. I've been using the app a lot less recently and not constantly requesting an update on the charge status and it hasn't happened to me for some time now.
