I have been thinking about how to modify the 'looks' of my car. Many people seemingly had the same comments, so Mazda now delivers it new with black pillars...

I had it wrapped. Cost me € 375. Painting would have been € 675.

Other options were changing the wheels and tires, lowering the ride. The wheels and tires I might still do when these tires are worn out. I could not find a
buyer for the wheels. The Mazda dealer and the tire center didn't want them.

I also bought some grilles in China. It is a bit of a fiddle ( the tape sticks eagerly, so steady hand and quick correction to fit correctly ) .. but it looks good !

Looks great I think, a little less busy with just the two tones. They have done a very good job of wrapping it.

I considered getting mine lowered, but the style shop advised me that it would mess with the radar and it's judgement; potentially creating a need or it to be re-aligned. Might be worth checking first?

Hi Mx30kw,

Thanks ! I asked the Mazda dealer if they can install the springs for me.

My approach would be H & R springs, lowering the car around 35mm on all corners : Mazda MX-30 Tieferlegung Mazda 3 BP | H&R | 2WD | ATH

Given the ground clearance of 136mm, that is a bit too much with the roadbumps we have galore..

I had an F-Type Jaguar for some years, and 100mm seems to be the minimum you need around here.

So with different alloys ( ET=45 standard, I think of changing to 35-40mm, 2cm more trackwidth), still 18" to keep some ride comfort.

I change the size/aspect of the tires to create a larger wheel diameter, around +20mm.

This adds to the "filled" look for the wheel arches, enforces the lowering effect visually.

At the same time it increases ground clearance with 10mm. So effectively the car is lowered only 25mm.

This is less then the difference in ride height between only the driver inside and 5 persons with luggage.

But if you intended to lower the car 90mm, I can imagine it could create havoc somewhere.

Then any window replacement shop can reset the radar for you at a cost, as they do after replacing the windshield !

I am waiting for the reply of the dealer. If they agree to do it ( could conflict with car warranty on dampers, bearings..),

I will ask about the radar. So thanks for the info anyway. Better safe then sorry..

Just an idea what it could look like. Minus 30mm on 18" wheels with +20mm diameter.
