Hi all, this morning I decided to try my hand at charging at a public charge point. So pulled up at a pod point & connected the 7 kw charge point. Straight away I got an error message on the charge point. Not what I wanted, however it is or was what it was. Decided to go to another charge point. I went to unhook the cable no go, I could not release the car! After faffing about & er indoors zooming up to 30000 feet a guy came along in a bmw. He was a bit more savvy than me. He told me to re-lock the car then unlock the car wait 5 seconds hey presto car was freed. Stay with me fellas this is a bit of a long post. Anyway thanked him & he commentated on what a nice car I had which pleased me & I went to another pod point. So connected my car & after a bit of faffing around with the app car started to charge. Me & er indoors did the shop & also-popped to anther shop. Got back to car after about 1.5 hrs. Okay not a big charge but I was learning. Packed all shopping away, now to stop the charging. Looked on the app & it said just pull out the plug, no chance. After a lot of faffing about, er indoors at 30000ft again I rang my local Mazda dealer where I got the car. They advised me to re-lock the car & then just unlock the car without opening the door. Job done. Hope this might help others & by the way what plug do I use for a fast charge, I also hope some of you had a good laugh at my predicament.

Thanks for that Alan know the switch your talking about. Will give it a go next time. It’s all a learning curve but I’m loving this car. MX 5 is getting a bit jealous so taking it for a run this morning. Thanks again.

Hi Alan it’s all good your advice works perfectly I tried it today. Pity that it isn’t quite as clear in the owners manual. Mind, may be that I couldn’t find it. I always thought that switch was for unlocking the door once the door had locked after moving off. Anyway all good.
