MX-30 is a very niche car. I love it, once the range anxiety faded away, took me about a month. I do however live in a big city and rarely travel more then 30-40km a day. Roadtrips of 300km one way is something we do 3-4 times a year.

Makes 0 sense to try to sell this in US - where the range will take you out of your driveway They are selling it in California only - as average emission greenwasher, but with no hope (500 pcs is the stock for US). Yeah, he's clearly a massive prat. But that's his online persona, that gets him views, that's how he makes his living.

I like the MX-30, but it is a weird car. The MX-30 screams of massive, sudden, and unexpected "Strategy Change" by Mazda's top brass, which assuming Mazda treats us early adopters of their EV future well, they should pull off!

If there's one word to describe Doug it's definitely weird lol. The one thing his video does show, as other people have mentioned, is that the MX-30 is definitely not for most American buyers.

I've seen this video come up loads whilst scrolling through YouTube, but never watched it purely as the word "disappointing" is right there in the title. What would be the point in watching it when it's clearly negative before it's even started.

The problem is Mazda launching it in US/ANZ - not US reviewers complaining about the car (rightly).
In US this is perceived as a compliance car - and honestly - it is.

I agree, the review is fair. With the current single tiny battery option, the MX-30 is only just about usable where I live (with my own off street parking), most journeys being trips into town and back, and we have a pretty good charger network here.

In the US, distances are much larger, the charger network is far less developed, and people who lie in the cities (where the car makes more sense) tend not to have offstreet parking. A 50kWh battery would have been the smallest reasonable size for that market.

Its like reviewing a mini and then complain that there is no space for a whole family of 5.

An mx is not for everyone and im very happy with that.

in US has no dignity not even as a golf cart. The MX-30 was developed for urban congested cities in Europe and Japan. They decided to sell it in US just to lower down the average emission level - with no real aim of selling any (stock is limited to 500pcs). It is a compliance car (there) - let's face reality.

We picked one up (in California) in Silicon Valley. The range is about 120 miles, but there are so many chargers here, including at my work, no range anxiety for us. However, I understand that likely outside of the tech capital here the range would not be sufficient.

We live in a semi rural area, on the edge of a national forest. With the climate we have, you better never leave your home without an umbrella at least. So though cycling is a favorite pastime, I prefer to shop with more space then for two loafs only. So this suits our needs well as a 'county car' . There are some weird aspects : these door are useless to 90% of the buyers, might as well make it a pickup..

Since you reside in London, its a perfect car to avoid the congestion charge..
