Lets be honest. There is a lot, loads of real estate under the that hood. Does anyone know anything about an after market frunk? My four year old told me in no uncertain terms that you will just ruin the car dad. She might be right. But still. If done sensibly it would improve storage dramatically. It just seems like such a waste. Anyone? Anywhere?

No. I thought the same as all the reviews said its a massive open space then i opened the bonnet - way too many pipes in there to be usable in any way. We're going to go with the roof box to make up for the lack of boot (about £520 for the whole lot including trims).

Plus if you do any modifications in that space then bang goes the warranty probably! It seemingly is the space for the range extending rotary engine in models to come. I do agree it's a waste of space for us pure ev peeps.

It seems a tiny bit heartless by Mazda not to offer a deep plastic compartment where the REX is planned to sit. It would be great for cables+ other gear especially with a dog in the trunk. Those cables seem to float around all over the place. Under the dog, beside the dog, up front, a frunk would be an excellent home for them. If anyone from Mazda reads this... Would gladly pay for it. Suggestion, to be offered at the same time as the coming REX as a consolation prize?

and the Mazda MX30 arriving in 2022.....
WOW!!!! 👍👍👍👍
Plus Ireland is in the EU so you can probably order from Sweden. Tried ordering from the UK, no can do. At the current time Fortnum and Mason does not deliver to the EU. We did for years but no more. Go away.

I sent them an email re availability. See below

Hi Alan.
Thanks for your email.
We are planning the Mazda 30 in January or February. The price range depends on the difficulities of the design and fixing points as well. We use 3rd party screws with special rubber edging to keep distance between the frunk and the inverter or other car parts. I am guessing it will be around 180-190€ but it will be confirmed when getting closer to the date of release. Once we get to this point, all our social media pages will be updated and the website as well.

Alan are you supposed to install this yourself? 😬
Know the Mazda dealer pretty well. perhaps it would be better if they did it? You need to remove it for servicing anyways. Any thought? Totally up for it!!!

It looks a self fit kit given the mention of 3rd party screws. I was hoping it did not involve screwing into anything and was bolt on and therefore easy to remove. The question in my mind is still around warranty. Unless it is approved and supplied by Mazda it does open up that risk and I doubt therefore that approved mazda dealers would want to fit it! Just my view knowing the attitude of my dealership.

Have a good Xmas and New Year

Yeah you are right as per usual. You can always ask. Dont like the screw part. The dealer in question is top notch and very helpful. We're trying to fix something Mazda could easily, in fact more easily, have done back in Hiroshima. Thats slightly annoying but...
Merry Christmas❄☃

Viva, not sure what model you have but I've got the Lux and I store stuff under the boot floor as the polystyrene insert has extra holes that are the right size for the cables. I think the top end model loses that space to the Bose speakers though...

True but the dog has taken over the trunk. And in car parks u need to worry about it escaping to court/abuse other dogs. Its not a huge space though, is it?
Mine is a First Edition minus the fancy stereo

Hi guys back on after op. Frunk that’s a good word, may make it into someone’s dictionary. Yep I think it’s doable. From what I can tell there is a lot of interest. I was thinking about it but as some one has mentioned lots of cabling & stuff under there. But! if that space is for small range extender surely Mazda could work in a frunk.
