Hi all,
It happens frequently that the keyless unlock system doesn't work at all. My wife or me have to get the key out of the bag and press the unlock button.
Most of the time it's when the car is plugged or when we open the hatchback.
We never had this problem with our previous car ( Nissan Micra ).
Any tip ?

If your key fob isn’t working then the battery may be running low (assuming you haven't replaced the battery). Otherwise you can also try using your spare key. Third step is to reset the key. (stand near the car and press both the lock and unlock on the key for 60 seconds. It makes the car lock/unlock/lights go on/horn beep). Apparently this resets the key. If this doesn’t work, then the transmitter/receiver inside the car could have an issue. It has done it with me a few times but taking my mobile away from the key solved it. Yesterday that didn't work because I think it was too cold indicating that the battery may be running low. So I am going down the replace battery route to see if that works

P.s Mazda say the batteries should last at least a year but I think this may vary due to a number of circumstances such as connection chatter.

Thanks for your reply Thebriggie. Just checked for the keys battery. Voltage was 2.96V vs 3.30V for brand new one. I've changed both. We'll see if it changes anything. Our smartphones are also very close to the keys which can also be an issue.

Haa I’ve had this problem and like you it’s when the car is plugged in
I am thinking that I lock the the car when plugged in with fob as the book says the car is now using dead locks
and so when I put my hand by door handle with keys in my pocket car won’t open I have to use fob to get cable connector out and get in the car, tbh the transponder is a pain I’ve locked my partner many times in the car as I walk away with keys in pocket.
most of the time I just unlock and lock the car using the fob call me old fashioned and that

I honestly don't think that keyless entry should be any different if the car is plugged in or not. The transponder should allow you to be recognised in the area around the front doors and the boot and be able to open the car. The detection and opening should not be connected to charging status. More than happy to be proved wrong but on reading and rereading the user manual with the key in its normal operating mode there is no mention of charging status having an effect on unlocking. The only problem I have come across is with some owners where keyless opening does not allow the charging cable to be removed but I believe that was early models and there was a s/w update to solve this. It will be interesting, going forward, where owners have had the car for some time to see if fob battery degradation is a common problem. It is on some cx30's and was on my cx5! Same system I believe.

It should allow at least 60 seconds after opening to remove the charging cable. The door lock button inside the drivers door also unlocks it. As stated in my earlier comments some early models have a software fix for this. See above

Doesn't do it on my mx30?....but I will try it out again to double check!!

Rodfer's Text reads

Dear friends, I think it happens with all MX30s. If the driver closes the door before the passenger, the car automatically locks after the passenger closes his, but later, when the driver approaches for him to automatically unlock it, he simply doesn't open it except with the key button. If the driver is always the last to close the door, they will see that it locks and unlocks automatically.
Confirm if it's not like that? 🤔

Rodfer, tried it this morning as follows using keyless.
Drivers door open, passenger door open. Got in. Passenger shut, driver shut and drove off. Stopped. Driver door open, passenger door open, drivers door closed followed by passenger door closed. Locked when walking away using keyless and left for a few minutes. Drivers door opened keyless as normal. Is that the sequence you described? If so I don't have the problem you raise. Can you do it each time on your car to replicate the issue?

Rodfer, tentei esta manhã da seguinte maneira usando keyless.

Porta do motorista aberta, porta do passageiro aberta. Entrou. O passageiro fechou, o motorista fechou e partiu. Parado.

Hello friends,
The sequel is just this.
When my wife (passenger) closes the door behind me, the car no longer automatically locks. I have, in this case, to use the key button to close and then when I get to the car to open it automatically, it doesn't open anymore and I have to use the key button.

A friend of mine has the same car and the same problem.
Probably a bug or it might even make some sense, but I can't find any justification for it.

This situation is always repeated in this sequence. It even comes in handy, because I always have to wait for her to leave and I no longer have to be a gentleman to open the door for her to leave.(y)

Have you c

It certainly does not do that with my car. It locks keyless following the sequence you and I have described. Have you checked door lock settings? It would be interesting to see if anyone else has the same issue and also if this is on early versions or random. Forum, anyone else experiencing this or had experienced this and had it resolved?

Hi,

The keyless system stopped working in one of my keys. Since the system was working with the other one I assumed that was a problem with the key not in the car side. I did some research and I found this on CX30 forum:

"By turning on the transmitter power saving function, the advanced keyless entry and push button start system functions turn off and the battery power consumption of the transmitter is restricted.
The remote control function is operational by operating the transmitter switch even while the power saving function is turned on. However, the operation indicator light of the transmitter does not turn on/flash.

Turning on the power saving function
After you have turned on the power saving function according to the following procedure, the hazard warning lights and sound operate one time.
  1. Press the lock button on the transmitter 4 times within 3 seconds to turn on the operation indicator light.
  2. Press the lock button continuously for 1.5 seconds or longer while the operation indicator light turns on (for 5 seconds).
  3. Press any of the buttons on the transmitter to make sure that the operation indicator light does not turn on/flash.

I did the procedure and the keyless functionality it's working again. For some reason I turned the power saving mode for one of my keys...

I now replace my fob battery every 6 months (cr2032) as it would appear the car and fob comms are regularly "chatting" ....looking for connection...and this does drain the battery. Changing it is about a 5 to 10 minute process.
