Check the latest MAP database available on : https://mazda.welcome.naviextras.com
Check your MX-30s MAP database version in the
Navigation Menu / Travel Information / About.
If your cars navigation database is older you can update it using cars SD card and a free software available from: https://infotainment.mazdahandsfree.c...
  • Switch OFF your MX-30 and remove SD card,
  • Download the Mazda Toolbox software appropriate to your computer OS,
  • Insert SD card to your computer,
  • Mazda Update Toolbox will recognize SD card and your privileges and will offer an update,
  • Depending on your region and internet speed the update might take apr. 30-45 minutes,
  • Once finished safely remove SD card form computer and insert back in the MX-30 SD card slot.
  • Switch ON your car and start Navigation menu, after short update notice you have the latest MAP.

Thank for the instructions. Before updating the Toolbox wants to make a back-up. In Windows this is default on the C: drive. It is not possible to select another location or external drive. Is it possible to enter a request for improvement to the provider of the Toolbox?

updating the SD to the DEC21 release... but:
  • backup done
  • first attempt of install of new map on existing SD returns an error at 93% as the SD card is full to the brim
  • had to format it - install the backup - then update (this update was not downloaded as already on my pc? went straight to the install phase) - installed successfully

the issue:
put the SD back in the car and - all system is in english - map guide voice is in english - the NAV menu only is in... Polish or something like that

took the SD out again, installed the backup and everything went back to english again.
Any clue here?! - trying to do it again from scratch this morning as yesterday ended up at 2am in the garage :)

Update - SOLVED

for some reasons my SD started as 15GB out of 30GB. During installation there was not enough space. Solution:
  • do a backup of the SD card just in case (better safe than sorry)
  • copy all the visible content of the SD on your laptop (2 folders - content & licence)
  • format the SD card
  • copy again those 2 folders on the SD (it is now 4GB instead of 15GB?!)
  • updated as per toolbox process - completed successfully

I now have the updated map and the NAV menu is in English again. No idea what toolbox was doing!

as per my understanding the backup will be a hidden file somewhere, but Mazda does not want you to be able to locate it (it will be in app data folder under user name I assume)

Just completed sat navigation sd card update. As usual took its time. Not a quick process. Three errors saying saying check connection to Mazda server. Wasn't my local network so gave the blame to the Mazda end.

Firstly back up done automatically slowly
Secondly downloaded slowly...
Thirdly the dreaded install...all went fine slowly until 93% then it slowed right down and I thought oh no same as birillo_79..
And then after touching as much wood as I could find it suddenly went to install successfully completed...yah blinking hoo. No intervention required. Perhaps they have amended it or birillo_79 was just unlucky!

Plugged back into car and all appears fine...but watch this space!

Petedad73, I don't understand what you mean by update at charging station? Maybe it's early morning brain sluggishness. Can you explain further.
As far as I am concerned it only updates the sat nav sd card and therefore any location data will be updated as well. No car updates etc. are involved as it is a user update using the sd card.

I installed the toolbox, but it opens as a very small screen on my monitor. Could not read the buttons (could not scroll down far enough).
So after selecting the left button (reject?), I had to uninstall and install again to select the righthand button.

Never seen this with BMW or Jaguar or Land Rover. It says Windows, but looks an android screen ?

Any guidance please ?

Yep. And I can not read the lower line, or buttons..

I clicked in the screen and can scroll it, but not enough down, a part remains out of the window.

Petedad 73 means to ask, if the map update also shows the location of the latest charging stations. So not road update, but also charging point updates..

Then all you can do, as you are no doubt aware, is check what windows version you are on for compatibility, uninstall and reinstall or check on another device with sd slot. It will not delete data until you confirm update after version check. You have an issue which, unfortunately or fortunately depending on your own situation, has not been raised to date. Again as you are no doubt aware when Mazda specific forums get beyond the car into pc software etc. it is a whole different world..hope you can fix it.

As for petedad I did ask him to explain further which he did not do. Mazda sat nav is generic so at the moment does not display specific supplier ev charging stations on the home map. You can go to the destinations setting and select charging stations and it will give you the option to make one a destination. I await android auto having the specific apps available for the vendors I use such as podpoint etc. so I can ask via voice command to show me the nearest supplier specific charge point.it does not display charger type either type2 or ccs, or availability....

Hi Alan, I run W10, all updates installed.

My son is an IT-student and is very saffy. The window 'resize' is blocked to a fixed size.
Just a stupid action from the person who coded this toolbox.
I now have 2020 Q2 navi. So I'll contact my dealer if they know how to enlarge the window.

Maybe I can see more on my laptop : far less pixels..
