I fully charged my car overnight, now normally this provides me with a reading of 120 miles available.

Unplugged and got in, started up, a reading of 102 miles available, strange I thought! On my return of around a 4 mile drive, miles available was 114, now two things, 1. I should use that route all the time or 2. The brains of the car was just having a moment?

Any other suggestions?

Mike, as you no doubt know, predicted range is a complicated beast. Mostly based on previous journey with the usual added variants, temperature, weather, terrain weight of feet on pedals etc. etc.

Your small journey would have created a new calculation hence the change.

I wonder is something was different on your previous journey 🤔

Alan,

Nothing strange about the time of day temerature or the way I drove the car, as you can see from my photo I am of an older age and don't have to get anywhere fast these days and people driving behind me appreciate my driving because of the kind guestures I see them making in my rear view mirror.

A strange one, will keep an eye on it going forward, nice to chat 👍

And to you Mike. Remember to take your mobility scooter, recliner chair, wheelchair, tartan rug, flask of tea and sandwiches not forgetting your spare set of wooden teeth out of the car for the next journey. It made a huge difference for my car's mileage range when I did just that after my lift assisted bath of course:D

Well I had it plugged in for my normal charging time 00:00 to 05:00. Before I plugged in, my battery status was just between 1/4 and 1/2 capacity. It did not fully charge, normally it would, that surprised me, so I will have another go in the week and take another screen shot, as you can see I am on 69% charge, have only used it once since the last charge going around 8 mile round trip.

Auld yin, after your prunes and porridge could you tell me the % before you started the charge. Also what does the mazda app messages say re charging start and stop. Do you have a charge scheduled on your charger or on the car? Also can you do a manual charge test outside the schedule? A lot to digest (including the prunes) so take your time :D

Alan,

In the immortal words of my fellow glaswegian pensioners, "get it up yers"

Joking apart, I will perform a most scientific test on my next charge, a before and after with screenshots, then we can all disect what it all means, I use the car scheduling system, the charger does not have that capability as yet, oh wait, I feel a movement, it must be the prunes!

Next episode Mon or Tue.

Windows vista...aah memories..its the latest and best you know it can do all your tasks and make tea and toast whilst with excel and word you can create a spreadsheet with accompanying word document all in the blink of an eyelid...aye that'll be right..as it locks and crashes again 🤯

Glad it's all OK. P.s What type of charger are you using..granny plug or 7kw. The car should charge directly from the charger using the cars schedule without the intermediate mazda server involvement other than if status requests are sent/required or an error occurs I believe. If there is no messages in the Mazda app message centre then we/you are flying blind as to what caused the hiccup...strange one.

Alan,

7kw, the only messages I get are tyre pressure, if they had consulted me in their sw platform I would have gone for Windows 3.1, floppy discs and all, and to boot an 8 track for the media system, and for the higher graded models vinyl player in the boot.

Now I am showing my age.

Are you sure re messages? Go to the mazda app and log in. Go to the three bars at the top right and press. Message centre should be top. Go across the various categories to vehicle status for example and see if any charging started/ stop messages are there? Interesting if you don't have any

Hi everyone. I am new here.

I have had this same problem since ownership- September 2021.

Twice the car has gone back to Mazda for a software update which has fixed the problem only for it to happen again a few weeks later.

The car states 100% charged but often charges to only 103-110 miles. This is not a one off for me either, every single charge I am loosing between 10-20% mileage range.

Its back in with Mazda on Monday for I am hoping a permanent fix but we will see.
