Hello from Bristol UK.

I've recently taken on a Tri-Tone GT Sport Tech. Happy with the car thus far however I'm having charging issues.

I'm using the standard 3-pin charger as I haven't installed a dedicated chargepoint at home yet. Every time I connect the car up, it will charge about 3-4% and then bring up a "charging was interrupted error" after about 30min. I need to come out unplug the cable and plug it back in. After that, car will charge OK to 100%.... this has happened every single time... car has now done about 500 miles..... I don't know if it is the SW on the car, or the charger itself? It' an annoying issue, would like to just plug in and forget! Has anyone else experienced this sort of issue?

Best.

Suggest that you refer back to your dealer. Iam using same charging cable as you for the same reason and haven't experienced the problem that you have. To my non technical mind it may be some sort of software issue which from reading different posts seems to cause a variety of issues with the MX-30 . Alternatively your dealer should be able to replace charger cable if that is at fault .
Have you also tried charging via another source using the other cable supplied? If you get same issue it would suggest software or possibly hardware issue with car.
Hope you get it sorted.

Got my hands on another MX-30 for a week and the same happened on that one. So I don't think it is the car..... Got my car back yesterday, plugged it into a different socket I've got outside the house and it charged OK. Maybe a gremlin in the other socket.... I'll charge it again early next week and report if that was indeed the issue.

Hi,
I have the exact same problem with my MX-30. Did you solve your problem? Or does the problem persist?

Problem persists…. I’ve found sometimes all I need to do is open the car with the control and then lock the car again and it starts charging again… weird software issue I think…
Many thanks for the update. Do you contact Mazda? I did but they didn't find any error in car logs... They tell me to try to charge it in another house to check if it's a problem in my electric wiring or to charge it in a public charger to see if it happens too.

Hi Alan, I'm making some charges with other charger at my house and until now everything is going well. I'm 90% sure that the problem is my charger from Mennekes. In a few days I will use my charger from Mennekes in other MX-30 and see if it fails. If yes I will be 100% sure... 🤞 I saw a few people with similar problem and different solutions/reasons so maybe I will create a new thread to summarize all of them.

Hi all,

We're having similar issues with our MX30 - sometimes it charges when plugged in, other times it doesn't want to charge.

I was wondering if anyone here managed to get to the bottom of it and what was/is causing the problem? Our car has been with Mazda for a couple of weeks now and they seem non-the-wiser so far.

Thank you in advance!

Ollie, the same questions as already asked..at home only or also at public chargers? On installed charger only or 13a granny cable charger as well? If charger only do you have powerline adapter for WiFi?

Alan
Granny cable seems to be okay, obviously just frustrating that it takes longer and ends up being more expensive for us.

Charging points are where it's acting up, both at home and also at the Mazda dealership's chargers too. We have issues with our NewMotion charger but that's another story...The fact that the charging is also temperamental at the dealership too suggests it's a car issue?

Interesting. The fact the dealership can reproduce it is, in a strange way, a bonus. Gives them something to go for. With chargers (as opposed to granny cable) comms from the charger to the charger provider can also cause issues. Hence the granny charger seems to be more reliable. Its the same cable comms as the fixed charger just a lower kwh. Have you tried the podpoint ones at Tesco yet? Free charge for 15 minutes, longer if you have the app and confirm charge using the app. Worth trying to absolutely nail it down to the 6.6kw inbuilt ac to dc convertor.

Hi everybody,

A few weeks ago I reported a charging problem with my MX-30...

I did a lot of tests like removing power line adapters, delete MyMazda app, I also tryed to charge in different houses... The problem was the granny cable. I'm using a new one for a month and I never had a issue again🤞:)

A friend of mine who bought a MX-30 recently and never had a charging issue tested my granny cable and it fails too at the first usage.

I contacted Mazda and they will replace my granny cable.

Best regards,
Marco
