You're welcome! I don't know the truth, it could be just their excuse or their software didn't meet certain cybersecurity level that EU wants.

 

It probably doesn't help but I can unlock and lock the doors from the app on my Ford Puma, so I don't think it's an EU safety regulation.

 

I am experiencing that my Mazda MX-30 doesn't respond when I turn on the climate system via the app. The car makes a humming sound, but nothing happens. Have any of you experienced this as well?

 

It’s maybe because you‘re in the car with a key fob. Try it again with distance when it’s locked. I haven‘t used that feature yet but I‘ll try it as well.

 

No, I haven’t used the app while sitting in the car. I have only tried using it when I’m inside my house before heading out to the car.

I can't lock the doors either, but I can see the status info on the app.

Weird. All of the VW cars can lock and unlock via the app. Even my brand new Cupra Tavascan has this feature, so I'm not sure it's an EU regulation? Our MX-30 could never do that, so I think it's just Mazda being super cautious about things.

 

I guess you're right @Starry - but then I still don't know why it's not available only in Europe. They may be worrying about some legal liability risks here more than other continents. Btw I recently found and read an official english MyMazda manual for EU/UK, apparently saying it only supports locking (no why).

 

One more update: I've tried to change my country in the account profile - couldn't solved this.
I think it's bonded to BIN or something we can't modify.

 

I recently locked my car key inside the car. I know "its not suppose to happen" - but it did. I had real trouble getting a lift back home to get my spare key, and since my house key was locked inside the car - it was a real mess. My dealership have confirmed that the app only has the possibility to lock the car - not open. This a serious flaw - and could lead to some serious trouble - if you are a long way from home for example. I have absolutely no idea how to "fix" this, but I will try to contact the national Mazda-office and see how they respond. As you say - every other brand of cars have this possibility. Anybody else have any information around this topic?

 

You do need to be careful with the MX-30 as I had one occurrence where the car locked itself whilst it was turned on and the key was in the car. Luckily the door didn't fully shut so I was able to pull the door slightly to get a stick in to open the window.

 

I cant figure out why they havent fixed this. As I said, my car was completely locked up - it was just pure luck it happened at work, so I could get a colleague to drive me back home to fetch the spare key. I travel around extensivly - and this will get me into some serious trouble sometime - if it happens at night during wintertime for example.

I did read of someone enlarging the hole in the blade key and hiding it behind the number plate fixing screw; I can envisage a slight drawback if you are locked out and don’t have a screwdriver handy! 🤔
