Hello
My name is Lubo, I am from Slovakia,
I pre-ordered the car before seeing it back in May, after solid few months of contemplating since placing a reservation in February. Until yesterday I owned Mazda CX-5 (2018), it now has new young family as owners. My experience and satisfaction with CX-5 really made me to pre-order (yeah, not really smartest decision in general, but yeah, I trust Mazda brand at this point)
I pre-ordered mx30 in full First Edition Premium spec, in Machine Gray colour and Modern Confidence interior. "My" MX30 was built on June 19th, currently is in transport from Antwerps port to Slovakia and the estimate of delivery is for September 25th according to the information I've got from the dealer, so still few more days of waiting.
I test drove the MX30 back in July at the official unveil event in Bratislava and I was very positive about the car (with only some 35 minutes of driving).
It felt very natural and unlike any other EVs I drove before (in a positive way). It just looks and feels and drives like a car that most of us are used to, I find it very positive for all those drivers who are maybe not so ready to change their perception of electric vehicles (that definitely doesn't include me). Steering paddles for setting the recuperation levels felt very intuitive and very easy to adjust while driving. Also, same as my CX-5, I loved how dashboard is presented (combination of digital and classical round dials) and proper drive mode selector, nice (faux)leather stick as it should be (hate those buttony drive selectors, or those baby levers Mercedes has behind the steering wheel).
I was really surprised how well the artificial engine sound works and how non-intrusive it was, to the point I didn't mind at all it cannot be turned off. Someone really spent some time designing the sound and volumes to make it work really well. Interior felt very premium, rear seats were a bit tight for me (I am 193cm) but was really comfortable, when they talk about the lounge feel in the back seat, they are not just making up nice slogans in this case. Rest of the interior, built quality, materials were exceptional,
Few things I learned and am not so excited about is the presence of the middle tunnel on the floor of the rear seats, albeit it's not as high as in ICE car, it's still there (back then it didn't make sense, why fully electric vehicle needs it, we learned later there will be ICE/hybrid version of MX30 - that's where Mazda didn't tell us whole truth when they presented the MX30 as their "EV" platform), missing electric powered tailgate and only 1 phase onboard charger. But I guess it's enough for the battery size. I love the I love the look of the car, freestyle rear door, (but I am yet to really find out how practical it really is).
Well, that should be enough for this long intro/initial thoughts about the car.
