Hello
My name is Lubo, I am from Slovakia,

I pre-ordered the car before seeing it back in May, after solid few months of contemplating since placing a reservation in February. Until yesterday I owned Mazda CX-5 (2018), it now has new young family as owners. My experience and satisfaction with CX-5 really made me to pre-order (yeah, not really smartest decision in general, but yeah, I trust Mazda brand at this point)
I pre-ordered mx30 in full First Edition Premium spec, in Machine Gray colour and Modern Confidence interior. "My" MX30 was built on June 19th, currently is in transport from Antwerps port to Slovakia and the estimate of delivery is for September 25th according to the information I've got from the dealer, so still few more days of waiting.

I test drove the MX30 back in July at the official unveil event in Bratislava and I was very positive about the car (with only some 35 minutes of driving).
It felt very natural and unlike any other EVs I drove before (in a positive way). It just looks and feels and drives like a car that most of us are used to, I find it very positive for all those drivers who are maybe not so ready to change their perception of electric vehicles (that definitely doesn't include me). Steering paddles for setting the recuperation levels felt very intuitive and very easy to adjust while driving. Also, same as my CX-5, I loved how dashboard is presented (combination of digital and classical round dials) and proper drive mode selector, nice (faux)leather stick as it should be (hate those buttony drive selectors, or those baby levers Mercedes has behind the steering wheel).

I was really surprised how well the artificial engine sound works and how non-intrusive it was, to the point I didn't mind at all it cannot be turned off. Someone really spent some time designing the sound and volumes to make it work really well. Interior felt very premium, rear seats were a bit tight for me (I am 193cm) but was really comfortable, when they talk about the lounge feel in the back seat, they are not just making up nice slogans in this case. Rest of the interior, built quality, materials were exceptional,

Few things I learned and am not so excited about is the presence of the middle tunnel on the floor of the rear seats, albeit it's not as high as in ICE car, it's still there (back then it didn't make sense, why fully electric vehicle needs it, we learned later there will be ICE/hybrid version of MX30 - that's where Mazda didn't tell us whole truth when they presented the MX30 as their "EV" platform), missing electric powered tailgate and only 1 phase onboard charger. But I guess it's enough for the battery size. I love the I love the look of the car, freestyle rear door, (but I am yet to really find out how practical it really is).

Well, that should be enough for this long intro/initial thoughts about the car.

Congratulations. I can imagine the anticipation. The waiting for something no one else has....

Please post a bunch of pictures and tell us how you like it when you get to drive it. I am looking forward to hearing your updates.

By the way, how are you getting around without your CX-5 until the MX-30 arrives?

Thanks dpaCPA, I sure will post pictures when and updates.
Yeah, this is first time in quite some time not having a car in a garage, so it's interesting, but we have shared electric scooters service in the city here, so that helps, and on the day I sold the CX-5 I actually walked all the way across the town home, and I have to say, I appreciated a little bit of different perspective, noticed things one wouldn't notice when just zooming through in the car, it reminded me the days growing up here and as kids, we walked everywhere and no place was too far to walk and get lost in a day... I sure will enjoy driving around in quiet electric mazda, but yeah, not bad to stretch my legs from time to time :)

Welcome @Linvs.
Have you decided what first steps to take after delivery? Like getting paint protection, window tinting, etc.?... or just going on a really long drive.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your MX-30!
Thank you @MXE
I know for sure I will spend first few days showing the car to my family and few other close people. Car comes with tinted rear windows, it's illegal to tint front and driver/passengers side, but paint protection is good idea, I might check out with the dealer maybe if they offer such service.
And yeah, first long drive will be over the weekend to the cottage in the mountains, it should be just about to get there and back with the range car is offering, so should be a good test of that and how I will feel about the range numbers going down on the way back :D

Hi Linvs
How did your trip to the mountains. Particularly interested in the power consumption uphill to the mountains and that on the way back with the regeneration capability.
Hi Brendan,
I am not sure if I can give you detailed info, but I will try my best. Car is very bad in telling you good info while driving, so when I was doing my trip, all I could see is a power consumption bar and my average and remaining range. On my trip I have one longer uphill section (around 8 km of decent climbing) followed by roughly 6 km of nice downhill
Going up, range dropped around 12km
going down i got back 6 km of range, while i was letting the recuperation doing it's best (almost no acceleration, just using paddles to set right level of recuperation so my speed is close to the 60-70, it's quite twisty section both up and down, so that was really the speed I could do safely/comfortably

overall I think recuperation on MX-30 is very good, although my experience with other cars is very basic to compare (I tested quite a few of them, but only for quick rides, not really to get all the quirks of daily use)

To add a bit more info, my cabin is 69 km away, trip there is a bit more power demanding, since it's uphill on average, but this gets balanced out on the way back.
I managed to do the round trip on single charge in the ideal summer conditions without issues, and also did one trip with 95% charge in winter (around -2 celsius) and this was tight...
when I arrived to my cabin, car showed remaining range 93 km, (for the trip back of 69km that felt comfortable enough)
but on the way back, with 30 km stretch (which I usually do choose motorway) remaining my range was only 41 km and I had my first range anxiety. With 120 km speed on motorway, wasn't sure if i can trust that range, so I used A road instead (with heating on and off to ease my anxiety :) )
got home safe with 12% of battery and 19km remaining... so I guess I just need to get used to this a bit more... which is not easy with all the lockdown and restrictions here

hope this gives you a bit better picture, if you have any more questions, I am happy to answer
