Hi all.

Im in the UK and got an MX-30 at Christmas.
I was reversing up my drive last week and my neighbour commented that the car doesn’t make a noise when reversing so pedestrians are aware you’re there. Is the car supposed to make a noise as I’ve tried listening with the windows down and don’t know what I’m looking for! I can hear just general noises but was wondering is it supposed to emit a beep of some sort?

Hello and no, not as far as I'm aware, although it should make a noise inside the car if you get close to someone or something.

Yes, it's true :
once the reverse gear is engaged, the vehicle emits an audible alarm, (a kind of buzzing) to the surrounding people

It seems to me that the regulations make this configuration mandatory in UE, no?

When I drive backwards pedestrians can hear the car clearly as it makes a noise. MY 2022. I always thought the noise was coming from engine because it had to deliver backwards power.

Maybe this is only country specific, as mine doesn't have any sound when reversing.

It is possible that this obligation only concerns EV delivered in the European Union ?

I've just checked the law (which is also for the UK) and the noise is meant to sound when going backwards and forwards, albeit up to a certain speed, but I'm pretty sure mine doesn't make a sound.

To clarify the situation, perhaps you should contact your dealer to examine your MX-30 ?

Here in the US, They make a noise when backing up and going forward at low speed.

I’m in the UK and mine makes a sound when going backwards - it’s like a lowish humming noise that’s made to sound like motor whir from inside the car

I’ve never heard a sound, perhaps I should ask the Mazda dealership.
