Mazda takes great pride in its reliability that consistently scores above average. After a recent update MX-30 owners report problems with charging. My buddy from Hiroshima has been smitten with this bug. For 1,5 years its charging record was spotless. Immediately ran into trouble after the update. You thought it was all about range. Turns out its all about charging. Its ridiculously frustrating to get inte your MX-30 in the morning and your state of charge is a surprise, could be anything. This is what it looked like today. Had already restarted charging once late last night. You need to plug it in again. Cannot be done remotely. It was set to charge to 90%.
Mazda, this is nowhere near good enough. This update sucks big time. Fix this ASAP. Please. Arigato/Anders

Could this be a comms issue with the car and you wall charger?
The mechanic who is a really nice guy is miserable and frustrated. He's a mechanic, not a computer engineer. He talked to Mazda Sweden. Others are affected too. Terrific! 🤣🤣🤣
We're in this together.
OK somehow he understod that switching phases, its a three phase charger but obviously charges one phase in this case, makes the car believe that charging is done. Charging complete. Charging complete 54% 64% 73%, have your pick. The charger is exactly the same. But this started the very first charge after the update. So something is different with the car or the communication as you say. Whatever it is, its annoying as hell.
The plan is to reinstall the old software.

Update on the update

Had the update redone with new software. According to the dealer appr 10% of owners had trouble charging after the original update. That sounds like a lot. Anyways seems to work as it should which is a HUGE relief.

Noticed a couple of things after the update. The car starts charging by itself to refill for losses after period of rest roughly 24 h time if connected to a charger. For five minutes or so. Yeah thats kind of spooky but fair enough.

The sound is totally gone. Which is a bit of a shame in lower speeds but a huge relief in higher speeds.

Possibly, it fastcharges a tad faster in cold weather. Dunno but possibly. Want to believe that it does.

Obviously as interested in software improvements as the next guy. But Mazda this was not a great customer experience. It has worked like clockwork for 1.5 years and you mess it up yourselves. For a Mazda fanatic like myself this has been a traumatic experience. Who can you trust really? Not Mazda it seems sadly. Which comes as a bit of a surprise.
Never trusted Vladimir Putin mister lets bomb kindergartens, hospitals, appartments, opera houses and what not. In our brotherland Ukraine. Which is really not another country at all. And its a peace keeping mission. Yeah right. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

Hopefully last update on the less than stellar update of the MX-30.

A cold morning a few days after update numero dos the car does not start. Not dead as a doornail but deadish.
Turns out the 12 V battery is almost dead. Talk to the Mazda garage and recharge the 12V battery. Car starts but the car refuses to charge. Try a couple of chargers no dice. Recharge the12V battery again. Japanese dude not even remotely interested in charging.
Back to the garage, they disconnect the 12V battery, car is 100% without power and the car returns to its old self. Reset de luxe.
Charges like there is no tomorrow and no energy crisis.
To avoid new probs they replace the 12V battery. Possibly they were getting a bit fed up with this MX-30 owner. Cant say that I blame them.
Is this all cused by the update? Who knows? Maybe its my bad karma or maybe this tech is just new and it comes with a lot of new challenges?
Is owning an old diesel tractor you can at least try to fix yourself without any computers the way to go 2022?
