We have a (leased) MX-30 and live in Southern Germany.

Car is supplied with normal (summer) tyres. With previous cars we'd put on winter tyres around this point each year - my wife feels much more comfortable that way.

As we will only have the car for 2 years I don't want spend a lot to temporarily replace the current tyres with winter ones this winter andnext, likely I'll sell whatever I get when we return the car in 2023.

I understand tyre dimensions are 215/55 R18

Is it safe to use just about any winter tyres of the same spec? Or does it really matter in some way? And all tyres will fit on our existing rims, right ?

to follow up, it has also been suggested just to get one set of all-weather tires, which cover both bases. I'd also need to just swap out the current (summer) tyres once, and swap back shortly before I return car to leasing company.

I presume this makes very little difference to the range, albeit maybe a little noisier?

I went for all-seasons tyres because I am lazy and because I don't think I am driving enough to notice the difference with dedicated and more efficient summer/winter tyres.

That said, if you want the best of the best for your car, not only you should have two different set of tyres based on the season, but you should also equip tyres specific for electric vehicles to maximize the range.

Of course this will be expensive and since the MX-30 is not really a car that is supposed to be on the road a lot, I don't think it is worth.
